Experience

mpurbrickAfter leaving college I was apprenticed with my parents business and stayed there from 1967 to 1973 when the business was sold to J. Davy , a main Ford dealer. I was indentured as a panel beater but went through the paint and mechanical shops as well as office duties and estimating.

In 1973 I joined Stormont Engineering,a main Ford dealer in Sevenoaks, Kent as the Body & Paint shop manager. My duties involved running the day to day activites in both the Body and Paint shops, estimating, negotiations. I had a team of 12 men in both body & paint shops.

In November of 1974 I joined the Bradford Pennine Insurance Co as a staff engineer assessor and stayed with them until 1991. Before leaving I was engineering manager for the South East region with team of 6 motor engineer assessors under my control. It was during my time with Bradford Pennine that I gained Membership of the Member of the Institute of the Motor Industry (M.I.M.I) and also became a member of the Member of the Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessors (M.Inst.A.E.A.). This also gave me Membership of the Member of the Federation Internationale Experts en Automobiles (M.F.I.E.A), a European assessors Member of the Institute.

In 1991 I joined Glass’s Guide as a support and development engineer on the Glassmatix computerised estimating program project.

I stayed with Glass’s until 1996 when I set up in business as an independent engineer assessor. I currently carry out inspections etc for a number of insurers, solicitors, the MVRA Ltd and other accident management companies.
